The Heresy Machine
Artist Collective and Unattended Baggage presents movement-based play the Heresy Machine, a queer cyborg love story between Alan Turing and his computer creation. Characters speak to one another through love letters written by computers, flirt and play through computer generated choreography; a predictive text interface tells fairy tales. Turing grapples with physical metamorphosis and the boundaries of personhood, opening new windows into our own relationships with the machines around us. The Heresy Machine is created by Dmitri Barcomi and Seth Majnoon, with original computer programming by Robert Salzer. Starring Michelle Kariuki, Mari Moriarty, and Marc Sinoway.

Nitemind Sync
New music by Aurora Hala. With Yiyang Cao, Robin Crookall, Luba Drozd, Erin Frost, Miriam Jonas, Anne Katrine Senstad, Lauren Klenow, Alison Kudlow, Signe Pierce, Sabrina Ratté, Caroline Sebilleau, Sloane Solley, Amelia Winger-Bearskin, and Elise Wunderlich. Upstairs from Sync, 14 artists have transformed a huddle of windowless rooms into a floor of projected lights, moving images, and contoured shadow.
Each artist featured in Solar Flashback has constructed an armature for light where colorful adumbration fabricates an illusory space. The interplay between form and illumination sketches vibrant reveries, indiscernible shadows, and potential energies which serve as counterparts to examine identity, fantasy, and the construct of self. These collected works conjure the duality of reflection as both a physical phenomena and entryway towards introspection.

Undeterred
Undeterred: Community Resistance on the US Mexico Border is a documentary about community resistance in the rural border town of Arivaca, Arizona. Since NAFTA, 9/11, and the Obama and Trump administrations, border residents have been on the front lines of the humanitarian crisis caused by increased border enforcement build up. Undeterred is an intimate and unique portrait of how residents in a small rural community, caught in the cross-hairs of global geo-political forces, have mobilized to demand our rights and to provide aid to injured, oft times dying people funneled across a wilderness desert. The film was made by Eva Lewis, a resident of Arivaca and long time member of People Helping People in the Border Zone (PHP). Undeterred was created in close collaboration with the Arivaca community and members of PHP.
This event is the third in an ongoing film and discussion series focusing on countries where asylum seekers in the US are coming from, with a 5 suggested donation to benefit The Solidarity Room Project which works to house NYC asylum seekers in private homes in our city as a dignified response to threats to flood sanctuary cities with refugees.
